Ailbhe Malone surprises us every time

The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - NEWS - MNEK: hopscotching

Wrote A Song About You by MNEK MNEK pops up in Pop Corner every so often, and every time, it’s for a better and better track. Wrote A Song About You is a song about a song. And this song about a song sings about a song with a weird melody – which Wrote A Song About You has. Confused? It hopscotches around, from soul to house to Womack and

Womack and back. Tricky to sing along to – but great to dance to. J Lo, of I Luh Ya Papi , fame has opened up about how comfortable she feels. “I don’t feel like I have anything to prove anymore. I’ve always strayed from embracing all these different parts of myself as a person and as an artist, but this time I was like, ‘I am all these different things’,” she told Billboard magazine. “I can be silly, I can make fun of myself, but I can also be deathly serious and way too deep and introspective sometimes. I think people have so many more sides to themselves than just one. We’re much more colourful than that.”

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows though, as J.Lo went on to tell the LA Times, “I think because I do a lot of different things, I don’t get credit for being great at one thing like some people are. Somebody once told me, ‘One of the best things is when people underesti- mate you, because then you can always surprise them.’”

Elsewhere, Nicole Scherzinger is a fan of exercise-induced brainstorms. She tells Femail, “I get my ideas for what I want to do on stage and my music when I run. I prefer doing it in the morning, first thing. Even if I just manage to squeeze in twenty minutes.” Wanna join her? Here’s what she gets up to: “I do Soul Cycle classes in LA and bikram yoga and then interval training 3-4 times per week. My body starts to crave the endorphins if I don’t work out.” Blimey.
