TRACK OF THE WEEK: Break The Rules by Charli XCX

Charli XCX = great pop star, terrible student. “I don’t want to go to school, I just want to break the rules,” she warbles, over a kind of pop punk backing, stomping around in a fur jacket. This song sounds like the opposite of a Monday morning.

Lily Allen is struggling with writer’s block, she told BBC Radio 2. ‘’I kind of feel like I want to be happy in my mind, but at the same time I want to be unhappy so I can write some good songs!” She continued: “I find

that when I’m sort of struggling emotionally, words come a little bit easier in the studio. So maybe that’s why I’ve decided to start writing now, because I’m sad when I’m not with my family.”

Finally, the mystery of Ariana Grande’s massive ponytail is revealed. Ari told We Love Pop magazine: “I had to dye my hair red for a role and it put me in a challenging position”. She went on to explain that her natural hair is “actually really healthy. It’s funny because whenever I post a picture my fan will be like, ‘Weave on point gurl!’ And I’m like, ‘I DON’T WEAR A WEAVE!’ I still wear extensions, but my real hair is almost completely restored.”

Britney’s got her business head on, she tells Variety. The singer said: “I’ve been very hands-on with everything I’ve done since I had my children. And it’s just really important for me to understand the big picture, where everybody’s coming from, what’s the real purpose of this shoot and this song, or whatever it is in that moment that I’m doing.

“It’s important to learn to say no. With tours and all of that stuff, there are so many aspects that go into it, it’s easy to have so many people around you saying, ‘Oh yes, yes, you can afford this, you can afford this,’ and then all of the sudden you’ve spent $20 million on your stage and you’re like, ‘Where’s my money?’
