Tarantino takes stock seriously

The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - NEWS -

Let us stop to praise Quentin Tarantino for a moment. The director has always shown an admirable devotion to actual film – the stuff that comes in cans – and we should, therefore, not be surprised to hear that the New Beverly Cinema in LA, which he purchased in 2007, will now only screen physical prints.

“The big thing about what’s going to change now that I’m taking the theatre over is, from here on in, the New Beverly is only showing film. That’s it. No digital. If something’s playing at the New Beverly it’s on film.”

In other Tarantino news, we hear that, to the surprise of many, his Hateful Eight will go before audiences late next year.

Staying true to his passion, the film will have the widest 70mm film release in more than 20 years. Such things do still happen it seems. His old pals at the Weinstein Company will distribute.
