THE SCRIPT Dublin Castle Saturday Saturday at 7pm ¤49.50 ticketmaster.ie

Dublin-band The Script (Danny O’Donoghue, Glen Power and Mark Sheehan) has had a time of it since they formed just over 10 years ago.

Say what you like about their music, but the lads have paid their dues, first as a failed mid-1990s band (Mytown), then as Los Angeles- based producers and songwriters for hire (including TLC, Britney, and Boyz II Men), and then in 2001 – now back in Dublin – as rock band hopefuls. We recall when interest was so lacklustre in them that they would play the likes of Whelan’s and fail to fill it.

The band’s commercial status is far from that now, of course, and they play this gig (which sold out its 4,000-plus tickets in three minutes) not only as a sort of homecoming but also as a promotional leg-up for their new, fourth, album, No Sound Without Silence.
