GALWAY

The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - SEVEN DAYS | EATING OUT -

Barely a year old, Platform has already won the Best Pizza in Ireland title in this newspaper. Owners Conor and Nicola Duggan wanted to create a family-friendly pizza place, that wouldn’t scare away the cool 20somethings. The huge menu offers flatbreads, salads, wings – and of course pizzas, which are thin crusted and come with some interesting topping combos, such as their pancetta, goats cheese, maple syrup and walnut pizza. Everything on the menu is available gluten-free, and the Narnia-inspired bathrooms (you reach them by walking through an antique wardrobe) are a big hit with kids big and small.

ARD BIA AT NIMMOS

Spanish Arch, Long Walk, Galway, 091-561114, ardbia.com ¤¤ Forever getting rave reviews, and with good reason, Ard Bia at Nimmo’s is a gem of a place. The décor, the menus, the crockery, the food - everything is so pretty and inviting you’d be tempted to get a job there just so you can come back every day. Making the best of local ingredients with a dash of the Middle East in its delicate flavours, the silver hake with fennel and samphire or savory baklava with beetroot, feta and pistachios are dinners to die
