This Cork restaurant serves up serious food with a sense of humour. Head chef Kate Lawlor has been winning awards from all corners for her inventive Irish cooking at Fenn’s Quay. The menu is almost entirely filled with Cork food (and a concession to a few ingredients from “over the border”). There’s beetroot and Cork Dry Gin cured salmon, Rosscarberry bacon & leek tart, O’Mahony’s collar of bacon with cabbage, parsnip puree and spiced walnuts (¤15.95), The Early Bird is great value, with three courses for ¤23, and for those of us who don’t like desserts, you can substitute it with a glass of house wine or a bottle of local craft beer. A clever move.
