TRADITIONAL Kevin Conneff and Redmond O’Toole December 21st is a date to be reckoned with each year in Meath, and this concert is a timely celebration of the annual solstice, as The Chieftains’ Kevin Conneff brings bodhrán and voice to the party, along with guitarist O’Toole. The intimate 60-seater setting should serve this duo well for this once-off performance. HIP-HOP Run the Jewels No surprise that this muchanticipated Irish debut for Run the Jewels is sold out. In fact, either Killer Mike or El-P (above) could probably fill the room under their own steam, such is their reputation. But when you combine the duo, add in two fantastic albums and throw in a full house a few nights before Christmas, you’ve the makings of a sweaty, loud, unmissable night out. Support from Clare diamond geezers Godknows and Mynameisjohn. All across the country, at around 2pm today, it will slowly dawn on most men that Christmas shopping cannot be avoided any longer, and that sneaky pint in town will stick in your craw unless you at least get the folks something. And your fella/girl. And the brother. Christmas markets are all well and good, but vouchers are better. Think music and clothes for teens, and nice hotels for the folks. You’ve got an hour. Run, run as fast as you can.
