There’s al­ways been space in hip-hop for the dream­ers and seers. The 2012 de­but from Seat­tle duo Catherine Har­ris-White and Sta­sia Irons saw their in­can­ta­tions on black mu­sic and lives come wrapped in a rich rub of sounds and in­flu­ences, from old-school hip-hop and r’n’b to jazz and soul. Here, they go deeper into th­ese themes, adding lay­ers of dense, fu­tur­is­tic ex­per­i­men­tal sound. As be­fore (and as with fel­low Seat­tle time-trav­ellers Shabazz Palaces, who con­trib­ute to the al­bum), the bass is a thing of won­der, with the abil­ity to mes­merise and hyp­no­tise.
