The Flaws Un­der the radar for far too long, this Ir­ish band pre­view tracks from their long-awaited new al­bum, Spring­time for The Flaws. If you’re af­ter nigh-on per­fect pop/rock, you re­ally don’t need to look any fur­ther. Guests tonight in­clude Dun­dalk band Richard Richard. TECHNO Der­rick May Detroit in­no­va­tor Der­rick May (above) was one of the first of the gen­er­a­tion of DJs and pro­duc­ers to put his stamp on techno’s sound and shape. It’s nearly 30 years since May’s Strings of Life in­tro­duced mu­sic fans to a brave new world of bleeps and beeps, but the track still re­tains its es­sen­tial essence. Since then, he has re­leased a string of key pro­duc­tions (in­clud­ing It Is What It Is, Nude Photo and Icon, though there have been few re­leases of note of late), over­seen the Trans­mat la­bel (home to hi-tek soul re­leases by Aril Brikha, Sub­ur­ban Knight and Stephen Brown) and is still ca­pa­ble of ram­ming clubs to the rafters.
