ELECTRONICA Wolfgang Flür: Musik Soldat Western Motors, M1 Retail Park, Drogheda, Co Louth 10.30pm ¤25 droghedaartsfestival.ie This site-specific show features the video/images from Flür’s past and present, as well as music that references all stages of the ex-Kraftwerker’s career. Fittingly, the man behind such a seminal electronic music album as Autobahn is staging this show in an underground car park. Honk, honk! TECHNO Jeff Mills Button Factory, Dublin 11pm ¤20 twitter.com/djjeffmills Still one of the most important and exciting figures in techno, Jeff Mills has been heart of the sound’s innovation for many years. Mills co-founded the Underground Resistance collective alongside “Mad” Mike Banks and Robert Hood, and his influence is defined by his work for Axis and especially his fierce, industrial-like DJ sets. Away from clubs and festivals, Mills has worked on various cinematic projects, such as new scores for Fritz Lang’s Metropolis and Buster Keaton’s
Three Ages. Tonight, though, it’s all about soundtracking the most visceral tech-club experience imaginable.
Helena Hauff Electric, Galway 11pm ¤8/¤5 soundcloud.com/helena-hauff Helena Hauff’s (left) stock is on the rise. As a resident at Hamburg’s Holden Pudel, her freewheeling approach to techno and electro has made her popular with club fans. As a producer, her gritty, acid cuts for Actress’s Werkdiscs label and this year’s A Tape album, as well as her collaboration on Hypnobeat with James Dean Brown, are worth cheering. Support from Bap to the Future’s Lolz. JC
