The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - COVER STORY - Ailbhe Malone

Track of the week: Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea, Pretty Girls For those expecting a Problem refit, this collab will take you by surprise. Channelling Britney’s deep cut Do Something, Pretty Girls has a 1980s twist, with a sing-talking Britney and drum machine beats. The attitude in Brit’s voice, and Iggy’s “can u not” rap, make it pop.

Hero of the week is Justin Bieber’s mum. In a post on Instagram, Justin credited her with ending his “stupid phase”. He wrote, “This woman taught me everything I know, how to love how to be compassionate how to be strong when the only thing u wanna be is weak how to stand when all you want to do is fall. If it wasn’t for this woman lets just say I would have had a way LONGER stupid phase.”

Zeroes of the week are people who misuse emojis, according to Charli xcx. “Use emojis wisely,” Charli told Q magazine. “There’s nothing that annoys me more than when people don’t think their emojis through.”

Taylor Swift isn’t worried by her squeakyclean past, she told Elle magazine. “As far as the need to rebel against the idea of you, or the image of you: Like, I feel no need to burn down the house I built by hand. I can make additions to it. I can redecorate. But I built this. And so I’m not going to sit there and say, ‘Oh, I wish I hadn’t had corkscrew-curly hair and worn cowboy boots and sundresses to awards shows when I was 17; I wish I hadn’t gone through that fairy-tale phase where I just wanted to wear princess dresses to awards shows every single time.’”
