Flür on Kraftwerk

The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - MUSIC -

“Objectively, I think Computer World was Kraftwerk at their peak, the best. For me, it’s the most technical and specifically futuristic record. I mean, when it first came out [in 1981], no one had really thought about home computers. It had brilliant melodies – admittedly not as romantic as those on Trans-Europe Express, which is my personal favourite.

Tour de France? That was just okay. Café Electric? As we say in Germany, it was cold coffee. It was not warm in my heart.

But, you know, deep down I’m a pop music fan. I really like Lady Gaga’s song Paparazzi. How brilliant is that? And I love Sheryl Crow’s songs.

“I especially like female voices in popmusic.”
