Fill up your backpack, get a look that’s easy and cool and head out for the day

The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - SEVEN DAYS | GOING OUT - Emma Fraser

This week, we meet Hope Higgins for a look at her summer weekend outfit. It’s perfect for a comfortable weekend day out – colourful and funky and great for a long day out in the sun.

1 Backpack: Backpacks are the summer must-have bag. You can head out for the day and fit everything you need into it. With your bag on your back you can be carefree and not laden down. This fab one from Urban Outfitters had lots of room and the design is so simple it will go with everything. MiPac perforated backpack, urbanoutfitters.com, ¤35.

2 Shorts: Who likes short shorts? These are not for the faint of heart. The shortest of shorts but really cute and great with the oversized shirt. Dress them down with a pair of runners and they totally work. They will also be great at the poolside on your holliers. Make sure to check out Boohoo, they have denim shorts for every shape and size you could ever imagine. Loren high cut denim fray hotpants, ¤20, boohoo.com.

3 Runners: When the weather is hot we need to be comfortable. We Irish don’t handle the heat very well. If you are heading out for a day of summer fun , Nike Air Max should be your footwear of choice. They also give a great sporty feel to Hope’s look. Nike Air Max 90 Hyperfuse, ¤57, jdsports.ie

4 Shirt: The 1990s blouse will be your purchase of the summer. Oversized, they will work on everyone. They are are one-off pieces so your best mate won’t turn up in the same one and they can be worn open like a summer jacket or closed with a pair of jeans for when it is a bit more chilly. The patterns are always so vibrant they instantly cheer up what would be a simple outfit. ¤22, shopninecrows.com
