Fleur saxes it up; Tay’s 20s roar; Ashton joins the heartbreakers
TRACK OF THE WEEK: Sax
The debut single by X Factor runner-up Fleur “Fleur” East is here and it is funky. Taking quite a lot from her breakthrough performance of Uptown Funk, there is a lot of sing-talking, and a honking sax refrain. Fleur gives it socks (or should we say gives it sax), as she belts out about searching for a “straight-up brother with a James Brown soul”.
Nathan Sykes (formerly of The Wanted) has been reflecting on his solo career. He told the Daily
Record: “This is like a new artist project for me and to be fair, with age, you grow up and are no longer the cute or young one in a boyband and you come into your own . . . I like to keep it as real as possible. I’m a 22-year-old lad from Gloucester who gets to do what he loves and is taking each day as it comes.”
Hero of the week is Taylor Swift, reminding us that Stars! They’re Just Like Us! She described her morning routine to Vogue Australia: “I take vitamins, and brush my teeth, and put in my contacts.” She also had some sage advice for women in their 20s: “I think it’s important to remind yourself in your 20s, you don’t necessarily need a reason to feel a certain way. Our brains are doing things we don’t even comprehend at the time.”
Zero of the week is being in a relationship, Ashton 5SOS told the Daily Record. “No, god, I’m not looking at a relationship again. I was seeing someone and now I’m not. I didn’t mind the handcuffs but won’t be looking for anyone soon. I’m freefallin’ like Tom Petty.”
