What’s in our Electric Picnic basket

With two weeks to go to the biggest music festival of the summer, here’s what the Ticket is packing

The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - TICKET STUBS - Laurence Mackin

The Electric Picnic festival is nearly upon us, and that means The Ticket is gearing up for its favourite weekend of the year. In today’s edition of The

Ticket, you’ll find interviews with Kano and Wild Beasts; Jim Carroll lists his 10 underthe-radar acts to see; and Irish acts and writers tell us their favourite (or most embarrassing) festival stories.

In next week’s Ticket, we’ll have an exclusive first look at the site map for this year’s festival, so you can start planning your camping spots early. And keep an eye on irishtimes.com in the run-up to September 2nd – we’ll have all the stage times and day-by-day breakdowns before anyone else.

At this year’s festival proper, we’ll be publishing free daily editions of The Ticket, which will be distributed onsite on Saturday and Sunday morning. These will feature reviews, previews of the day ahead, stories and pictures from everyone’s favourite festival.

Last year, we introduced our own tent to the Mindfield section of the Electric Picnic; it was so popular that, this year, we are bringing a bigger one. We’ll have a programme of talks with your favourite writers, and discussions with industry professionals in the music, film and fashion worlds, as well as an event looking at the nation state’s centenary year.

Whether you are at the festival or enjoying it from home, you can follow our online coverage, with a daily blog, videos, galleries and much, much more on irishtimes.com.

So start packing that tent – it’s nearly Stradbally time.
