BOBBY SANDS: 66 DAYS ★★★★

The Irish Times - Friday - The Ticket - - SEVEN DAYS | FILM -

Directed by Brendan J Byrne. Featuring Fintan O’Toole, Richard English, Norman Tebbit, Tim Pat Coogan, Gerry Adams Excellent documentary on the 1981 hunger strikes. Peter Strain and Ryan Kane’s beautiful animations accompany melodic readings by Martin McCann from Sands’s prison diary to create an unmistakably heroic representation of the hunger striker. But the film still manages to include a wide variety of voices: a prison officer, high Tories, Tim Pat Coogan. We are left with a comprehensive, balanced, gripping tale of terrible times. 12A cert, lim release, 106 min DC
