Techno fans will know Marcel Dettmann as one of the Berghain kingpins, a DJ and producer who has seen his residency at the Berlin club turn him into one of the biggest names in techno. However, those expecting the boom and thump of primetime techno may be waiting some time. For Dettmann, this was about gathering more reflective set of tracks he hadn’t played in a while, and which he would not normally feature in a club setting. This doesn’t mean wall-to-wall Chris de Burgh or Coldplay; Dettmann’s home listening pulls in seminal wonky pop movers The Residents, longstanding Dutch techno producers the Psychick Warriors ov Gaia and pioneering leftfield producer Dan Curtin. Amidst the previously unreleased mixes , the pick of this bunch is Can You See, a strongly drilled Dettmann collaboration with Levon Vincent. facenofficial JIM CARROLL
