The Dublin In­ter­na­tional Pi­ano Fes­ti­val, run by Archie Chen (left) and Rhona Gould­son, com­bines pub­lic mas­ter-classes and sem­i­nars with con­certs. The ma­jor con­certs in this year’s pro­gramme fea­ture Chen and Eve­lyne Bran­cart in a Schu­ber­ti­ade of Schu­bert’s great­est pi­ano duets (Hugh Lane Gallery, 1pm, Satur­day), a “Clas­si­cal Smack­down” with Fred­eric Chiu pitch­ing De­bussy against Prokofiev (Hugh Lane Gallery noon, Sun­day), “Ti­tan of the Pi­ano,” Tchaikovsky com­pe­ti­tion win­ner Boris Bere­zovsky play­ing Beethoven, Grieg, Bartók, Falla and Al­béniz (NCH, 8pm, Tues­day), “Pi­ano 2.0,” Francesco Tris­tano blend­ing pi­ano and syn­the­sizer (NCH, John Field Room, 8pm, Thurs­day), and “War and Peace,” Gabriele Bal­docci play­ing Liszt’s tran­scrip­tion of Beethoven’s Fifth Sym­phony with works by Ravel and Ka­baleveky (Hugh Lane Gallery, 1pm, Fri­day).
