Man­hat­tan Per­cus­sion Mu­sic RIAM, Dublin 7pm Adm free riam.ie Amer­i­can per­cus­sion­ist Thomas Kolor is in Dublin for a mas­ter­class and per­cus­sion con­cert – both free – at the Royal Ir­ish Academy of Mu­sic on West­land Row. Kolor’s all-Amer­i­can pro­gramme in­cludes works by El­liott Carter (Fig­ment V for marimba solo, and Saeta from the Eight Pieces for Four Tim­pani), Mil­ton Bab­bitt (the Con­certo Pic­col­ino for vi­bra­phone and Homily for snare drum), John Cage (Com­posed Im­pro­vi­sa­tion for Snare Drum, and One4, in which per­form­ers make their own choice of drums and cym­bals) and Mor­ton Feld­man’s The King of Den­mark (a graphic score for a mix­ture of in­stru­ments played only with fin­gers, hand or arm, no sticks). The mas­ter­class pre­cedes the con­cert at 3pm. MD
