Un­der the um­brella ti­tle of Smith­wick’s Sound­track Se­ries, Ir­ish bands Barq and Le Galaxie have re­fur­bished the sound­tracks of two of the best movies of the past 40 years – Fran­cis Ford Cop­pola’s Apoc­a­lypse Now and Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fic­tion. The launch tonight (with sup­port DJ Sally Cin­na­mon) sees Le Galaxie per­form mu­sic in­spired by Cop­pola’s classic work. On Tues­day, Barq get all slinky and sassy on us with ren­di­tions of se­lected Pulp Fic­tion tunes. The se­ries con­tin­ues into Novem­ber: Barq, Opium Room, Dublin (2) and Fid­dler’s Creek, Sligo (3); Le Galaxie, Cyprus Av­enue, Cork (10); and Black Box, Belfast (24).
