The Irish Times Magazine - - FRONTLINES -

If you’re looking for a more adventurous Sunday afternoon, why not pay a visit to the Defence Forces open day at Farmleigh House? Highlights include unarmed combat demonstrations and a weapons display from the Army, Air Corps and Naval Service. If that’s not enough, the parachute team will jump from Air Corps helicopters. An exhibition of vintage vehicles will be on site, including the 1920s armoured Rolls Royce Sliabh na mBan car and the President’s motor- cycle escort display.

Other highlights include the Defence Forces virtual reality experience – if anybody prefers the real thing, there will also be a careers exhibition. And archivists from the Military Archives, the primary source of material from the Irish revolutionary period, will offer guidance to people who want to look into their family’s military history. Admission is free. farmleigh. ie
