The Irish Times Magazine - - FRONTLINES - Gemma Tipton

Unless you’re lucky enough to live there, Skibbereen makes for some pretty perfect summertime days away; and Uillinn, the West Cork Arts Centre, is a great spot to stop while you’re about it. Their current exhibition, just opened, showcases the work of William Crozier, who fell in love with the area. A great deal of his vibrant exciting landscapes ( wonderful semi- abstracts in which you can recognise some things and imagine others) were painted around his west Cork home. Uillinn’s show is the first part of a major exhibition of the artist, who died in 2011. Imma will be hosting the second part, going back to his postwar work, and it will be fascinating to see the early darkness giving away to the evident bright pleasures Crozier took in the glories of the world around him. Uillinn until August 31st, and Imma October 12th to April 8th, 2018. westcorkartscentre. com / imma. ie
