Casablanca Sunday, RTÉ One, 1.40pm It doesn’t matter how much time goes by, this romantic drama will always be a classic. Humphrey Bogart is on iconic form as Rick, an American running a Moroccan nightclub during the second World War. His cynicism is put to the test when he’s reunited with former lover Ilsa ( Ingrid Bergman, ABOVE with Bogart), who needs his help to get her Czech resistance leader husband ( Paul Henreid) out of Casablanca. The chemistry between the leads positively sizzles, but the whole cast is on top form – especially the scene- stealing Claude Rains as the cheerfully corrupt Captain Renault. Gone Girl Friday, RTÉ One, 9.35pm Gillian Flynn’s acclaimed novel gets a tense, stylish big- screen adaptation courtesy of director David Fincher. A perfectly cast Ben Affleck stars as Nick, whose glamorous wife Amy ( Rosamund Pike), a minor celebrity due to her starring role in a series of books written by her parents, disappears on their fifth wedding anniversary. He contacts the police, but as details of their troubled marriage start to emerge, he finds himself under suspicion of murder – and the media is ready to convict him. The Wolf of Wall Street Friday, Channel 4, 11.40pm Director Martin Scorsese reunites with Leonardo DiCaprio ( BELOW) for an energetic, blackly funny drama based on the true story of New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort. After losing his first job on Wall Street in the 1987 crash, Jordan eventually goes on to found his own company, which becomes successful due to some very shady dealings. But while Jordan and his friends are living it up on the profits – and Scorsese doesn’t skimp on the debauchery – the FBI is paying close attention…
