On your high horse

The Irish Times Magazine - - INSIDE -

Two of my great loves, coffee and horses, combine in Sean Byrne’s brilliant High Horse Café. Based in a horsebox, Byrne’s mobile barista bar, which he runs with his partner Julie- Ann Hamilton, can be hired for your own private parties, festivals or events.

It’s a real family affair, Byrne and his father found an old horsebox, and pretty much tore it apart, putting it back together as a fully operational coffee dock. His mum picked out the pretty pale blue colour, and the whole family got stuck into the rebuild.

Kilkenny- based Byrne had wanted to set up on his own, but property prices seemed to put the dream out of reach, until he hit on the horsebox idea, adding his own love of vintage style to the look. They got on the road just six months ago, and it’s proving hugely popular. The coffee’s great too. Rates start at ¤ 350, depending on travel distance and number of guests. The High Horse Café also doubles up as a prosecco or gin bar, should you require. Another great love . . . www. highhorseevents. ie / 089 413 2894
