St Mary’s hold out to se­cure place in final

WITH THE county se­niors ail­ing, Of­faly foot­ball is tak­ing hope from the for­tunes of un­der­age teams and Satur­day’s win at Pearse Park­was an en­cour­ag­ing af­ter­noon.

At the in­ter­val Eden­derry led by 0-11 to 1-2.

Shane Walsh did net a 24th minute goal for Jar­lath’s, but Eden­derry re­sponded by kick­ing four in a row be­fore the break.

Then within sec­onds of the restart Eden­derry’s Mark Nolan was fouled in the square and Daniel Flynn drilled the penalty to the back of the Jar­lath’s net.

In the re­main­ing min­utes Jar­lath’s outscored Mary’s by four points to one. A solid Eden­derry out­fit stayed de­fi­ant to earn a place in Satur­day week’s All-ire­land de­cider at Croke Park.
