Hehir qual­i­fies for world cham­pi­onships

Sean Hehir has ef­fec­tively earned his se­lec­tion for the World Athletics Cham­pi­onships in Lon­don later this sum­mer af­ter run­ning a personal best of 2:16:18 at the Lon­don Marathon.

Next best Ir­ish fin­isher o was Kevin Sea­ward in 2:17:08, fol­lowed by fel­low Belfast ath­lete Stephen Scul­lion in 2:17:59, with Dublin’s Mick Clo­hisey clock­ing 2:18:3. Both Sea­ward and Clo­hisey have the qual­i­fy­ing time from last year. Ethiopian Ke­nenisa Bekele won the race in 2:05.48

The first Ir­ish woman was Laura Graham in 2:42:38, and as first Ir­ish women home in last year’s Dublin marathon, is also now first in line for se­lec­tion for Lon­don.

Mary Kei­tany won her third race in a time of 2:17.01.
