Froome ex­tends lead as Roche loses more time in Vuelta

Ni­co­las Roche suf­fered an off-day on Sun­day’s 15th stage of the Vuelta a Es­pana, crack­ing in the first of the day’s three climbs and los­ing time from that point on. He even­tu­ally crossed the line in 54th place, 16 min­utes 18 sec­onds be­hind the stage win­ner Miguel An­gel Lopez (As­tana).

Roche is now 17th over­all, 21 min­utes 40 sec­onds be­hind Chris Froome. He had been as high as third over­all in the race, but has shown fa­tigue in the past two stages.

In South Africa, Katie-Ge­orge Dun­levy and Eve McCrys­tal had a su­perb show­ing on Sun­day in the Para-cy­cling Road World Cham­pi­onships, win­ning the WB Tan­dem Road Race for their sec­ond gold of the cham­pi­onships.
