Irish women still waiting for a coach

The Irish Times - Monday - Sport - - Rugby -

What news from the rudderless Ireland women’s squad?

As the Red Roses, the English women, tune up for a three match series against Canada in November, one on the undercard of England v Samoa at Twickenham, Claire Molloy’s squad can look forward to a training camp without a head coach.

You may have heard, Tom Tierney (above) stepped down after guiding Ireland from the fourth ranked team in the game to ninth following a toxic build up to a disastrous World Cup campaign.

Tierney’s endeavour landed him a job somewhere else in the IRFU coaching system.

That was decided before the tournament yet his replacement does does not merit similar attention.

The IRFU have not even bothered updating the women’s fixture details ahead of the Six Nations.
