Hats off to DonegalSportHub.com whose exhaustive research on the top scorers in the history of the Donegal senior football team was published this week.

Top of the pile is Michael Murphy (right), who has scored 28-493 in 142 senior appearances since being drafted in as a 17-year-old in 2007.

The Glenswilly man, who has been Donegal captain for the last eight years, is 64 points clear of second-placed Colm McFadden, who played 31 more games. The rest of the list reads like a who’s who of the great Donegal forwards, all of whom won Celtic crosses: Martin McHugh, Manus Boyle, Adrian Sweeney, Brendan Devenney, Tony Boyle, Patrick McBrearty, Declan Bonner.
