Zebo and O’Con­nell start with wins

The Ir­ish in Paris were the big win­ners in France on the open­ing week­end of the Top 14 with Si­mon Zebo and Paul O’Con­nell en­joy­ing big away wins in their first com­pet­i­tive games. O’Con­nell, ap­pointed for­wards coach with Stade Fran­cais ear­lier this month, saw his charges run out em­phatic 46-15 win­ners away to Paddy Jack­son’s Per­pig­nan.

And Zebo, with his for­mer Mun­ster and Ire­land team­mate Don­nacha Ryan in the sec­ondrow, helped fash­ion a 25-9 win away to Toulon with a solid 80-minute per­for­mance at full­back.

O’Con­nell’s Stade Fran­cais blewJack­son’s new side away. They trailed 29-3 at the break be­fore Jack­son gave his side hope with a 53rd minute try but the Parisians pulled away for a 46-15 win.
