De­vel­oper brings tra­di­tional styling to roomy, A-rated Car­rick­mines homes

Details like Ed­war­dian-style win­dows, wain­scot­ing and cov­ing give these three-storey, four-bed houses an air of so­lid­ity re­in­forced by the in­clu­sion of high-end con­tem­po­rary fea­tures

In­glenook Wood is a small de­vel­op­ment of 28 units on Gle­na­muck Road built by We­ston Homes, a firm that de­vel­oped Old Town Walk in Naas and Hay­field in Maynooth, Co Kil­dare.

The 2-acre site, which had been home to two de­tached prop­er­ties, In­glenook and Saxa­roon (the former giv­ing its name to the new es­tate), was bought to mar­ket seek­ing ¤4 mil­lion in Fe­bru­ary 2017 with plan­ning per­mis­sion for 16 houses and 12 apart­ments. To­day, the de­vel­oper is launch­ing the first eight of the semi-de­tached prop­er­ties.

Built to a tra­di­tional de­sign the brick-fronted homes have win­dow and door sur­rounds of re­con­sti­tuted sand­stone and Ed­war­dian-style, Carl­son case­ment win­dows with very fine frames that add a dec­o­ra­tive el­e­ment as well as al­low­ing lots of light through.

The three-storey, four-bed prop­er­ties mea­sure 176sq m /1896sq ft and feel like solid fam­ily homes with space for ev­ery mem­ber.

Lime­stone sur­round

The sit­ting room has tra­di­tional cov­ing and a lime­stone sur­round to the multi-fuel-burn­ing Wan­ders in­sert fire that pro­vides a fo­cal point to this for­mal room, a nice es­cape in a busy home maybe.

The hall has wain­scot pan­elling and feels bright thanks to a win­dow on its ex­te­rior wall. It l e a ds i nt o t he large and light-filled open plan kitchen dining area.

There are two bed­rooms on each of the first and sec­ond floors. The mas­ter is sit­u­ated on the first floor, ac­cessed via a steep set of stairs. Its en suite in­cludes a smart dou­ble sink while the fam­ily bath­room has a free stand­ing bateau-style bath and a sep­a­rate shower.

This room is tiled in two shades of grey, but if they are not to a buyer’s lik­ing and they would pre­fer some­thing dif­fer­ent the prop­er­ties come with an op­tional ¤2,000 al­lowance for tiles to use through­out the house. There’s a de­cent-sized hot press at this level and the
