Start from where you are by do­ing one or two things with your diet likely to give you the best re­turn.

Stick to meal­times, but if you need to snack try things such as raw car­rots or toma­toes.

Take ad­vice on how to be­gin ex­er­cis­ing safely in a way that you can build into a rou­tine that suits your life – don’t fo­cus on things you can’t sus­tain.

Don’t deny your­self some treats but make it part of meals such as dessert on Sun­day or what­ever works for you.

Track your progress but be pa­tient and recog­nise there may be oc­ca­sional set­backs. Don’t give up.
