CBS The Green set for 90 year celebrations

- By FERGUS DENNEHY

CBS The Green are calling on all past students to come out in force to help the school celebrate their 90 year anniversary in the school this October.

It will be a case of being able to literally walk down memory lane for many locals here in town on Friday October 6 as the school opens its doors and hallways at 1:30pm on the day to welcome back its former students.

“You are welcome to attend the celebration and we hope many of you will be able to help us celebrate this milestone in the history of CBS The Green. It will also be an opportunity to view the school and reminisce on the many years you had in The Green,” said the school in its invite to Alumni.

The school, which first opened in 1927, is seeking copies of any old photos, stories or articles that past students may have from their time in the school - anyone interested in submitting copies can do so by handing them into the school directly or by emailing 90thcelebration@thegreen.ie

“Both I and Robert Flaherty (Deputy Principal & past pupil) look forward to seeing you on the night. We will notify all of you of our progress over the coming weeks and months,” the invite finished.

Their will be a special anniversary supplement published here in The Kerryman in the week leading up to the event for all those looking for more information.
