AFTERNOON OF PRAYER
The next Afternoon of Prayer in Our Lady of Lourdes Church Scartaglin will be on Sunday next September 17th when Janice and Moss Carrig will be present. The prayer afternoon will get underway as usual with the Rosary at 2.30pm. Everyone welcome.
SET DANCING CLASSES
Set dancing classes with Triona and Mairead Mangan will commence in The Heritage Centre Scartaglen on Friday evening next September 15 from 3.15 to 4.15pm. Children being catered for will be from Juniors up to and including 6th class. For any further information contact Triona on 087 6808962.
DISABLED DRIVERS
The Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland would like to thank all those who contributed to their annual church gate collection held in this area recently and a word of thanks also to those who helped to take up the collection.
WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES
Any couples celebrating a significant wedding anniversary this year might like to go along to a special wedding anniversaries mass which will be celebrated in Castleisland Parish Church on Saturday evening September 23rd at 6.15pm. HOSPICE COFFEE MORNING
The Castleisland Branch of Kerry Hospice are holding a Coffee Morning in JK O Connors on this Thursday morning September 14th. Volunteers are needed for this fundraiser. Anyone interested in helping out should contact Liz on 086 2833328.

The annual indoor market in aid of Kerry Parents and Friends will be held in the Community Centre Castleisland October 6th.
ROSARY RECITAL KERRY MINORS

The Rosary in honour of Our Lady of Fatima will be recited at the back of JK O Connors Castleisland on this Wednesday September 13th at 3pm. All are welcome.
CULTURE NIGHT
Culture Night will be celebrated on Friday night September 22nd. There are a whole lot of activities and events taking place on that particular night to celebrate the occasion in question. At local level Maggie Prendiville Keane will give a talk at The Padraig O Keeffe Memorial in Scartaglen which will be about the memorial itself and the artist who executed the work, the late Mike Kenny. Eamon Fleming will also speak in relation to this matter. The time for these talks is 7pm, weather permitting.
At 7.30pm in Scartaglen Heritage Centre the new series of Handed Down for 2017-18 will be launched as part of the Sliabh Luachra Music Trail by the Lord Mayor of Kerry -- John Sheehan and Kate Kennelly, Kerry County Arts Officer. Afterwards there will be snacks and refreshments with a music session given by John Daly, Emma O Leary and Con Moynihan. Joint Organiser PJ Teahan will have an exhibition of photographs also on the evening. PJ and Mick Culloty wish to invite all who were involved in the Padraig O Keeffe Memorial Committee and also those involved with the Scartaglen branch of Comhaltas/Feile Cheoil Committee 1983. All will be welcome.
YOUTH CLUB REGISTRATION
Scartaglen Youth Club are holding a registration evening on Thursday September 21st from 7-8pm in the Heritage Centre. Registration fee is E10 and any child registering must be accompanied by a parent.

Tarbert Comprehensive School friends of the past, many travelling from various parts of the world are to meet at Carmody’s, Chapel Street, Tarbert during race week. It will be interesting to learn how these people have settled and made their homes in faraway places. It will be a time of music and song where memories and events of other days are recalled. Our past is always part of our present when we meet old friends.

SINGING CLASSES
Traditional singing classes will resume for both beginners and advanced pupils at Halla Inse Bhán on Wednesday, September 13 at 7.15pm. Tuition is be given by Catherine who is a former All Ireland Traditional Singing Champion. Catherine was present at the National Traditional Singing Seminar in Dublin recently. Members of last year’s sixth class in the local Scoil Náisiúnta who bid slán to their primary school at a graduation event in Halla Inse Bhán at the end of June, have now settled into post primary education, five in Abbeyfeale and one in Newcastle West.
