THE people’s festival has already delivered – and we’re only halfway through.

Listowel’s Harvest Festival always brings the summer to a spirited finish, and the first three days of this year’s meeting served up its usual mix of craic, interesting race-cards – and even some popular local winners.

“The weather forecast for Sunday and Monday was dire, but we actually got pretty lucky as it cleared up for the afternoons,” said Races Secretary Brenda Daly.

“The public has gotten behind us as they always do. We’re enjoying a great festival, and we’re only three days in,” she added.

And there have been local winners too, including Crocodile Dundee, guided home by Blennerville’s Brian Cooper and saddled by Brian’s father, Tom.
