Major yoga festival on its way to Tralee
TRALEE is set to host a major yoga festivals this weekend and organisers are hoping that people will overcome their trepidation and join in on the fun.
Running in the Ashe Hotel on Saturday October 14 and Sunday October 15, Maeve Ferris and Cara Wallace, who together make up ‘Golden Pear Yoga’, are the brains behind the festival.
“I was travelling all over to Cork, Dublin and Galway for festivals and I just thought to myself ‘why don’t we just try and hold one here in Kerry?,” said Maeve, talking to The Kerryman on Thursday.
“We’ve great facilities here that could cater for it [festivals] and judging by how busy our classes have been over the last few weeks, there’s definitely an appetite for yoga here in Kerry,” she continued.
“A lot of people too that come to our classes, they might only see one style of yoga and so with this festival, the aim is try and broaden peoples horizons as to what else is out there.”
Maeve says that no matter what your age or ability, there will be something for everyone to take part in over the weekend.
Vinyasa yoga workshops, balance and inversion classes, lectures on healthy eating, a yoga dance party and guided meditation are just some of the events that will be on offer during the weekend.
“The way that we have set the weekend up, ticketing wise, is that people can buy a full weekend ticket, a full day ticket or a half day ticket, this means that people will be able to pick and choose what events they want to do over the two days,” she said.
“People have this fear about yoga. They think that they have to be ultra flexible to take part - this couldn’t be further from the truth, it’s open to everyone, from beginner to boffin,” she finished.
Tickets for the festival can be booked through Event Brite, the link to which can be found through ‘Yoga Fun Festival’ on Facebook; tickets cost €150 for a full weekend, €80 for a full day and €45 for a half day.
Maeve Ferris and Cara Wallace have combined their yoga knowledge to help set up one of Tralee’s first ever yoga festivals - the festival will take place in the Ashe Hotel on October 14 and October 15.
