Tralee director’s films secure a network deal
A TRALEE director has received another boost to his burgeoning film career, after it was announced that two of his short films had been picked up by an international film network.
Bertie Brosnan announced that his films ‘Sineater’ and ‘Jacob Wrestling With The Angel’ (JWWTA) have been picked up by Shorts TV in a non-excuslive deal via the US distribution outfit Bidslate.
Since their release in 2013 and 2015, both films have received critical acclaim, reaching the ‘Cannes Short Film Corner’ in consecutive years and receiving a number of ‘Official Selection’ at international film festivals.
“It’s been a long journey from the production of JWWTA & Sineater to this moment to finally see my first short films distributed through a legitimate network,” said Bertie.
“I am delighted for all involed because we have a chance to showcase all our work to the world. Being a non-exclusive deal I am open to shopping the films around to other networks and through pay-per-view sites.”
“Thanks to everyone involved, especially Roland of Bidslate for making sure we got the deal done,” he finished.
‘Sineater’ tells the story of a successful young man who is forced to look at his wrong doings by a mysterious ‘Driver’ who claims to be a family friend.
‘JWWTA’ on the other hand is described as a “dark peek into a young unhinged artists struggle between finishing his masterpiece and his obsession with a mysterious woman.”
