Date set for Bal­ly­duff mur­der trial

THE trial of a Bal­ly­duff farmer ac­cused of mur­der­ing an el­derly neigh­bour will take place next year in Tralee.

62-year-old Michael Fer­ris of Rat­too, Bal­ly­duff, will go on trial at the Cen­tral Crim­i­nal Court in Tralee on Oc­to­ber 9, 2018, for the mur­der of 74-year-old An­thony O’Ma­hony.

He is ac­cused of the mur­der of Mr O’Ma­hony, of Ar­doughter, Bal­ly­duff, at Rat­too, Bal­ly­duff, shortly be­fore 9am on April 4.

Judge James O’Con­nor sent the case for­ward for trial to the Cen­tral Crim­i­nal Court from Tralee District Court in July.

The District Court heard then that Mr O’Ma­hony had died as the re­sult of mul­ti­ple trauma in­juries sus­tained when his ve­hi­cle col­lided with a heavy tele­porter agri ma­chine.

The trial date was fixed by Mr Jus­tice Pa­trick McCarthy this week for the Cen­tral Crim­i­nal Court sit­ting in Tralee on Oc­to­ber 9, 2018.
