Date set for Ballyduff murder trial

-

THE trial of a Ballyduff farmer accused of murdering an elderly neighbour will take place next year in Tralee.

62-year-old Michael Ferris of Rattoo, Ballyduff, will go on trial at the Central Criminal Court in Tralee on October 9, 2018, for the murder of 74-year-old Anthony O’Mahony.

He is accused of the murder of Mr O’Mahony, of Ardoughter, Ballyduff, at Rattoo, Ballyduff, shortly before 9am on April 4.

Judge James O’Connor sent the case forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court from Tralee District Court in July.

The District Court heard then that Mr O’Mahony had died as the result of multiple trauma injuries sustained when his vehicle collided with a heavy teleporter agri machine.

The trial date was fixed by Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy this week for the Central Criminal Court sitting in Tralee on October 9, 2018.
