MUNSTER JUNIOR LEAGUE DIVISION 3 Tralee 27 Ennis 32

TRALEE came away from this game wondering how they ended up on the losing side. The home side led by 2 points in time added on but Ennis struck for a converted try right at the death to break Tralee hearts.

Tralee enjoyed a very good first half of the game with tries from Kevin O’Shea and Jack O’Suilleabhain expertly converted by Jack Quiter. Brian Murphy was the scorer in chief in this half for Ennis with 2 penalties and his own converted try, but Quilter struck a penalty for Tralee to see them lead 17-13 at the break.

Tralee enjoyed plenty of early possession in the second half and Jack Quilter scored a good try which he also converted to push them 24-13 ahead. Ennis replied with a try of their own soon afterwards, and although Tralee were enjoying plenty of possession around the middle third, their indiscipline and concession of soft penalties was beginning to hurt them. Ennis struck for two tries from Stephen Ryan, one off a line out ball and the second of the back of a maul, but Quilter slotted over a good penalty to put the Tralee side two ahead once more with time running out. Ennis weren’t finished and R O Halloran went under the posts in the dying seconds to rob the home side of a deserved victory.

Killorglin 6 Fermoy 22

KILLORGLIN came unstuck against a very strong Fermoy side in a game played in perfect conditions at Ballymallis last Sunday. Fermoy slotted over an early penalty but the unerring boot of Luke O’Shea leveled matters for Killorglin soon afterwards after Fermoy were caught with their hands in a scrum. A good block and drive from Fionn O’Shea led to another Killorglin penalty which Luke O’Shea duly converted. Fermoy had one more chance with a penalty before half time but as the ball drfted wide, Killorglin went in 6-3 up at the half time break.

The second half of the game didn’t go as well for the home side and Fermoy punished their rearguard to the full with three good tries. Luke O’Shea did add another penalty ,but despite the best efforts of the Killorglin side, Fermoy were full value for their 16-point victory. A local derby against Corca Dhuibhne awaits the Killorglin lads in two weeks in what is sure to be a fiery battle.

Dungarvan 42 Corca Dhuibhne 0

CORCA Dhuibhne made the 260 mile round trip to Dungarvan on Sunday with just 15 players and were well beaten by the home side on a very heavy pitch. The rough weather conditions didn’t deter Dungarvan who were firmly in control of a very one sided contest. Corca Dhuibhne did have stand out performances from Martin O’Gorman, Jamie Granvile, Adam Daly and Nicky Moriarty.
