Great end to Martin’s long trek to Kerry

- By SINEAD KELLEHER

AFTER a long trek from Malin to Kerry, Martin Sheridan got a hero’s welcome when he arrived to Sneem village on Sunday evening having completed a grand total of 310 miles during his week-long trek for charity.

Martin, who is from Cavan, started his journey from Malin on Saturday, June 23 and on Sunday, July 1, reached his destination of Sneem village, where he was met by family and friends. Martin took on his epic challenge to raise funds for the JFK Moylagh 50-mile challenge, which is raising funds for the Irish Cancer Society and the LARCC cancer support centre.

The Cavan man took on this challenge on June 10, and having completed the 50-mile challenge, he decided to continue walking to Kerry “to see if he could”. Sneem also hosts a JFK 50-mile challenge, so it was a fitting destination for Martin, who was delighted with the people and support he got throughout. Donations can still be made online for Martin at www.50milechallenge.com.
