RESULTS

Lios Póil 1:11; St. Senan’s 0:10 Played in the background of both teams needing a win and Bearna na Gaoithe to be seen in the distance. It was the hosts Lios Póil who came away with a crucial two points. The game was only three minutes old when Lios Póil goaled, courtesy of converted penalty by Deaclán Ó Súilleabháin. A point was subsequently added to by the hosts before St Senan’s through two Cathal Kennelly points got themselves in the game. Following a point from play by Mícheál Jim Mac Gearailt there was to be a pause owing to an injury to Rian Ó Mainín. When play resumed scores were tough to come by and well-earned and by half time the score read 1:05 to 0:04 in favour of Lios Póil. The second half proved to be just as enticing as the first was and it was St Senan’s through Sean O’Connell who got the matters underway with a point from play, which was swiftly cancelled out by a Maitiú Seán Ó Grifín point. St Senan’s responded with a further point form O’Connell and after a brief scoring exchange between himself and Ó Súlleabháin the score read 1:07 to 0:07 for Lios Póil. This was extended further by a Donnacha Ó hUigín point and in a tense game there followed a period where both sides tried but failed to add on to their side’s scores. That ended when St Senan’s brought the gap between the sides to three, but this proved only temporary as Maitiu Seán ó Grifín’s point put Lios Póil four points ahead once more. St Senan’a did launch numerous attacks up until the very end, but thanks to crucial interception from players such as Aindriú Loibhéad and Dara Ó Súilleabháin, the home side just held out for a crucial win.
