Ballymac Anton runs in Juvenile Derby final

-

LIAM Dowling might have seen his two runners, Coolavanny Pet and Ballymac Arminta, eliminated from the Boylesports Irish Derby at the quarter-final stage on Saturday night, with the Abbeyfeale syndicate dog, Packing Heat, also going out, but Liam has a mighty chance of winning the Texacloth Juvenile Derby in Newbridge this Friday with the brilliant Ballymac Anton, which he owns as well as trains.

Ballymac Anton actually broke the track record at the semi-final stage last Friday by clocking a quite fantastic 28.18 and he runs from trap 4 in Friday’s final.

The other semi-final was won in 28.59 by Cushie Jet, which broke the track record in the previous round with a run of 28.21, so this is one hell of a sweepstake. Cushie Jet runs from trap 5.

In trap 2 will be the Liam O’Rourke-trained Ballymac Noah, which is a litter brother to Ballymac Anton, but, of course, Ballymac Anton is the one we all want to see winning.
