GOING IN SEARCH OF GLORY

After a spectacular football season (so far) that saw both the U16’s and Senior teams climb to the loft heights of Division 2, our Senior Team juggernaut is pulling out of the station again. On 11 November in Duagh, the Orange menace descends on Ballydonoghue in our first game of the North Kerry Championship. This match is merely a step towards bringing home the elusive North Kerry Championship trophy. We wish Dave, his selectors and fantastic squad the very best in their preparations for the exciting weeks ahead. Focus, Believe, Achieve!

STORIED KERRY

A Meitheal Consultation Conference led by Frank Lewis was held in Killarney last Saturday. The gathering was to celebrate and promote the story of Kerry and Kerry’s stories, the day was both inspiring and interesting. District representatives lead thematic workshops and discussions. Dr. Criostóir Mac Carthaigh, National Folklore Collection, UCD, Dr. Richard McElligott, UCD and Batt Burns, Seanachaí were among the panel of eminent speakers on the day.

And there was story telling too, Sean Lyons, Tralee and Killorglin’s own Eamonn Edso Crowley had the house in peals of laughter telling stories in their own inimitable way and some with a moral to them too. Long may the art of story telling continue and grow in our county, unique to us all in Kerry.

Congratulations to Frank Lewis Chairman and Founder and the committee of Meitheal. Local area consultation was chaired by the following–Michaél O Coileáin, Daingean Uí Chúis, Pat Kavanagh, Caherciveen, Tommy Martin, Castleisland, Brendan O Sullivan, Kenmare, Donal Hickey, Killarney, Eamonn Crowley, Killorglin, Mary Kennelly, Listowel, Séan Lyons, Tralee.
