GETTING ON THE RIGHT PATH TO EMPLOYMENT
A MYRIAD routes to engaging jobs for people with additional support needs were outlined at the Rose Hotel on Wednesday in the Progressive Pathways Fair.
The Fair - presented by EmploAbility Service Kerry and the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection – enjoyed great subscription with hundreds attending over the course of the afternoon.
For people over the age of 16 with illness, health issues, disabilities and other support needs, the Fair brought scores of education outlets and prospective employers together under the one roof. Free Local Link Kerry transport was also provided to the free event.
Stands on the day included hosts Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection; the Local Development Services; the National Learning Network; the IT Tralee Disability Support Services; Assistive Technology; Studio 3; Kerry Down Syndrome and the Local Disability Support Service.
Many workshops were also held throughout the afternonn on everything from assistive technology and employment supports to employability services, progression to FE and HE and progression and supports in further and higher education and many more.
Progression Pathways is focused on promoting progression into further and higher education training and employment for young people aged 16 and over with special needs Intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries and ASD.
