FIRST RESPONDER GROUP

In Ireland approximately 10,000 people die each year from cardiovascular disease -- including coronary heart disease, stroke and other circulatory diseases. In recent months members of the Cloghane Brandon area have decided to set up a First Responder Group in order to provide basic life support in case of emergencies in their local community. A First Responder is a person trained to a minimum level of basic life support in CPR and the use of an AED/defibrillator, who attends an actual or potentially life threatening emergency such as a cardiac arrest, heart attack, stroke or choking. The group will be linked to the National Ambulance Service and the main function of the group is to better someone’s chances of survival in the case of an emergency. In order to improve the service and make it more practical
