Lis­towel man in set­tle­ment with tax­man

A NORTH Kerry farmer has made a set­tle­ment of over €34,000 with the tax­man ac­cord­ing to the lat­est Rev­enue Tax De­fault­ers list.

James Reli­han, a farmer with an ad­dress at Knock­er­agh, Lis­towel, paid Rev­enue a to­tal of €34,703 aris­ing from a Rev­enue Au­dit that found he had un­der de­clared €21,848 in Cap­i­tal Gains Tax.

The Rev­enue list – cov­er­ing set­tle­ments made be­tween April 1 and June 30 2017 – also in­cluded out­stand­ing in­ter­est of €6,300 and penal­ties amount­ing to just over €6,500.

Mr Reli­han was the only Kerry per­son named on the list of 58 peo­ple and com­pa­nies who made set­tle­ments worth a to­tal of over €11mil­lion.
