Tralee company StoryStock wins Open Eir contest

TRALEE based company StoryStock have been named as one of the winners of Open Eir’s ‘High Speed High Street’ competition ahead of the National Ploughing Championships.

The Tralee firm will now join SMEs from Cavan, Clare, Cork, Donegal and Dublin to showcase their wares at Open Eir’s exhibition space at the championships.

This competition was organised to showcase Irish SMEs that are using high speed broadband to promote their business online, sell product and engage in new market opportunities.

The contest saw SMEs across the country entering to win a prize of free exhibition space at Open Eir’s ‘High Speed High Street’ exhibition area at the championships at Screggan near Tullamore in Offaly next week.

StoryStock, a content creation business based at Kerry Technology Park in Tralee was one of six business chosen to exhibit by Open Eir.

Storystock, which has a small team of workers who are all returned immigrants and all originally from Kerry, delivers high quality content and stories from content creators around the world to global media and brands who need good stories and content.

The company says it plans to showcase the types of stories they deliver, particularly their agricultural clients on screens, as well as setting up a booth at the championships where they can record farmers stories and play them on screens at the stand.

Each of the winning businesses will also receive prize packages worth €10,000 and one year’s free broadband.

“The ‘High Speed High Street’ initiative gives SME’s such as ours a fantastic opportunity to showcase our brand and tell our story to the estimated 280,000 people who attend the Ploughing Championships,” said Shane O’Connor of StoryStock.

“It also allows us get to the heart of the farming and business communities, who are there, find their stories and share them both nationally and internationally online through the StoryStock platform quickly and seamlessly because of our access to high-speed fibre broadband,” said Mr O’Connor.

Orlagh Nevin, Director of Sales, Marketing and Service at Open Eir explained why StoryStock had been selected as one of the competition’s winners.

“StoryStock was chosen as one of our winning businesses as they clearly demonstrated the positive impact that high-speed broadband in Kerry has had on their business. They have harnessed the full potential of an online presence, allowing them to engage directly with customers online and to explore new markets not only nationally but, in some cases, internationally,” she said.

The National Ploughing Championships – which this year runs from September 19 to 21 – is Europe’s largest outdoor agricultural trade exhibition.

In 2016 283,000 people attended the event which featured 1,700 exhibitors.
