Massey loads of fun at tractor run
THERE was a great turnout at the weekend as charity Tractor Run Kerry held an event to raise much needed funds for Multiple Sclerosis Tralee and the Emly Ward at University Hospital Kerry.
Over 80 tractors took part with the convoy reaching up to two miles in length.
The tractors set off from the Rose Hotel in Tralee on Sunday morning making their way to Abbeydorney where they stopped at the Sports Complex.
The run then continued onto Ardfert, stopping at the Oyster Tavern in the Spa before returning to the Rose Hotel via Blennerville.
“A big effort was put in by so many people in making this a very successful event,” said organiser Morgan OFlaherty from Abbeydorney/Derrymore.
“I’d like to sincerely thank all who participated in the event. People travelled, gave their time and donated very generously and raised money for two very worthy causes,” said Mrogan.
“Also thanks to Tim Breen and friends who organised the motorbikes and kept the traffic management of this event under control and Bernadette Cronin who helped with the registrations,” said Morgan.
“Thanks also to Tralee Garda for their presence and support with traffic management on the day; to all who collected and donated money in the buckets and to the camera men who could be seen along the route.”
“Thanks to Lee Strand who sponsored the plaques, the Rose Hotel who supplied teas and coffees in the morning and to Irish Marquees in Tralee for their marquee for registration.
“Thanks also to the Sports Complex in Abbeydorney and the Oyster Tavern Spa for providing their facilities and food on the day. We also really appreciate the incredible generosity of Buckleys Listowel, Eddie Slattery of Delaval Tralee, Electric and Diesel Engineers Tralee (Lucas), Gearys John Deere garage Limerick, Kerry Tractors Ltd in Tralee, Kate Brownes Restaurant in Ardfert, Atlantic Oils Ardfert and Gibbons Filling Station Horans Tralee who provided spot prizes,” said Morgan.
Over €3,500 was raised and this will be presented to the charities in the coming days.
A repeat of the event is planned for next year.
