Toe-tap­ping week­end at Din­gle Folk Festival

THE sec­ond an­nual Din­gle Folk Festival kicks off on this Fri­day night and a foot-tap­ping week­end of mu­sic is promised, with con­certs, a ‘ses­sion trail’ and a late-night festival club keep­ing the beat going.

The Hill­grove Ho­tel will pro­vide the venue for con­certs dur­ing the festival, with Four Men and a Dog, Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Or­ches­tra, and Barry & Laura Kerr, Donogh Hen­nessy and Síle Den­vir pro­vid­ing Fri­day night’s lineup.

On Saturday night the At­lantic Arc Or­ches­tra (with Dónal Lunny and Pauline Scan­lon) tops the bill at the Hill­grove, while Éilís Kennedy with Fire and Grace (gui­tarist Wil­liam Coul­ter and vi­o­lin­ist Ed­win Huizinga), and The While­aways com­plete the lineup.

Mean­while, there will be ex­tra help­ings of trad mu­sic in the town’s pubs over the week­end and a late-night festival club will keep the mu­sic going into the early hours.

Doors open for the con­certs in the Hill­grove at 7pm and there’s lim­ited seat­ing. Tick­ets cost €27.50 for each of the Fri­day and Saturday night con­certs or a week­end ticket costs €42. Tick­ets are avail­able on­line at din­gle­folk­ or phone Siopa Ceoil An Dain­gin on 086 0808448.
