Toe-tapping weekend at Dingle Folk Festival
THE second annual Dingle Folk Festival kicks off on this Friday night and a foot-tapping weekend of music is promised, with concerts, a ‘session trail’ and a late-night festival club keeping the beat going.
The Hillgrove Hotel will provide the venue for concerts during the festival, with Four Men and a Dog, Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra, and Barry & Laura Kerr, Donogh Hennessy and Síle Denvir providing Friday night’s lineup.
On Saturday night the Atlantic Arc Orchestra (with Dónal Lunny and Pauline Scanlon) tops the bill at the Hillgrove, while Éilís Kennedy with Fire and Grace (guitarist William Coulter and violinist Edwin Huizinga), and The Whileaways complete the lineup.
Meanwhile, there will be extra helpings of trad music in the town’s pubs over the weekend and a late-night festival club will keep the music going into the early hours.
Doors open for the concerts in the Hillgrove at 7pm and there’s limited seating. Tickets cost €27.50 for each of the Friday and Saturday night concerts or a weekend ticket costs €42. Tickets are available online at dinglefolkfest.ie or phone Siopa Ceoil An Daingin on 086 0808448.
