CSCB in seven heaven

-

DIVISION 2B Lisard Wanderers 0 CS Clochainn Breannainn 7

THE greater experience of CSCB counted in this game against new kids on the block Lisard Wanderers with the West Kerry side winning this game in a canter at the Tralee Dynamos pitch at Cahermoneen on Sunday morning.

Lisard held their own for a while in the first half defending admirably but when CSCB hit with a threegoal blitz in a four-minute spell mid way through the half the game was virtually over as a contest.

It was a polished performance by a lively and talented CSCB side with their star striker Gene Murphy bagging a superb hat trick to cap a great individual performance.

They were on top at midfield with Jack Nix, Patrick O’Donoghue and Donal Kennedy running the show while up front Gene Murphy was a constant threat.

After a period of sustained pressure CSCB went ahead in the 34th minute with a 35-yard free kick by Gene Murphy going in off the feet of a defender.

Two minutes later they doubled their lead when Gene Murphy found Adam O’Donnell with a great cross and he volleyed powerfully tothenetfrom10yards.

Shortly afterwards the Lisard net was bulging again with Patrick O’Donoghue firing home a powerful shot after great approach play by Gene Murphy.

CSCB made two changes at half time with Tomas O’Connor replacing Luke Mullally and Timmy Murphy replacing Fergus Kerin.

The West Kerry side were only a lick of paint away from extending their lead four minutes into the second half when a Patrick O’Donoghue header came back off the crossbar.

However they made it 4-0, three minutes later with Tomas O’Connor setting up Gene Murphy and he applied a great finish to complete his hat trick.

They found the net again three minutes later with the assist again coming from Tomas O’Connor and his cross was finished to the net by Timothy Moriarty.

Late on they added further goals from subs Kevin Russell and Padraig Murphy. The last goal got tremendous applause from the big band of CSCB supporters as they were expecting free pints at Murphy’s Bar in the evening as Padraig Murphy is their main sponsor.

While it was a poor day at the office for Lisard they are going through a learning curve and they will improve as they get more experience.

To their credit they kept battling away right up to the very end but they never looked like scoring a goal as the opposition was just too strong for them on this occasion.
